This is a really good mythical matchup. I'd have to think more about it, but am fairly certain it wouldnt go to the cards

Jackson has the better punching power.
Mugabi is technically superior - he was an excellent boxer, not only a puncher - and also had some serious guts.
      Mugabi wins.

        Mugabi wins.
        - - Mug took Marv to the brink. Jackson has nothing to match that other than his legendary punch that would be a one off thing if it landed.

Yes. To this day I am convinced that Mugabi is the one who caused Hagler to lose to Leonard. Both Marvelous and the Beast lost something of themselves in that fantastic war.

Mugabe is very overrated. Jackson makes easy work of him

                  - - Actually it was Marv's ego of wanting to outbox Ray instead of pummel him as he was doing the last rounds.

Terrible strategy exacerbated by one judge's blowout scoring for Ray in spite of him running around mostly like a chicken. Ray ducked the immediate rematch to retire, and then unretired after Marv finally announced his retirement unable to secure the rematch.

...or even earlier. Jackson's chin was so weak, even a non-puncher like Italy's Agostino Cardamone had him in serious trouble at the very beginning of the fight before getting starched - as always - with a single shot. Gerald McClellan knocked Julian out in five and one, respectively. And Mike McCallum put him out in two.
