I'll bet Gene Kelly wasn't his usual mean, rude, impatient, and intolerant self during rehearsals with SRR. LOL

SRR could dance but just dancing was never enough.

To become a star (make a living) you had to be able to bring it to the big screen as an actor. E.g. Kelly, Astaire.

Or on stage as a singer and dancer.

A few guest appearances on varity shows was not going to pay enoung to keep Sugar Ray in the lifestyle he desired.

Plus SRR didn't bring a enough varity of talent to play Vegas. Dancing alone wasn't going to get him there.

But yes, he could dance.
