AB is too old. No one defeats father time. And he is giving up too much size in the fight. If he was 5 years younger this fight would be more interesting.

It's individual. Maybe the bottom fell out for you at 40 but that doesn't mean it is everybody's number.

I lost any athletic prowess by 25. But stayed spry and active until I was 60. Weighting 142 pounds, with only minimum effort, for over 35 years.

I got old sometimes in my mid sixties

It is individual; metabolism, diet, and desire.

But to suggest that 38 is different than 40 across the board for everyone is absurd.

            - - Funny that what applies to you don't apply to me.

I was in better shape than the 200 20ish wunderkinds who used to give me grief for being 40 as I proved on our golf tourney where I easily outdrove my main protaganist, and in flag football where I had the best game, perfect both in coverage of my opponent and out scoring two of the fresh out of UKansas and UHouston halfback/defensive back. I had run the Halfback near down by the time he caught a pass out of my zone.

They STFU after my perfect blitz of their age grouping. I hadn't touched a golf club in over a decade. The last football I played was from 15-18 years old in HS, our weekly informal tackle football without pads. I walked up to our field barefoot wearing only gym shorts with a jock. We earned our football HS coaches ban after we knocked a few players in hospital making them defunct for the duration of the season.

BTW, our senior Football team went all the way to the quarterfinals where we were finally beat by the one who go on to win the HS Football Championship.

I could go on forever, but yeah, I can barely run now because of a lower herniated disc that left permanent right leg damage.

When I was still teaching one student tried to be polite and said to me, "Now that you're older."
I laughed and said, "That a euphemism. I don't like euphemisms. Call as it is."

He said, "OK, now that you're old."

I laughed again an insisted he say, "Now that you're close to death."

He thought about it, and insisting on still being polite replied, "Now that you're closer to death."

In his own alcoholic fog, he was a pro athlete.

Well he was Irish was he not? Those boys like to drink.

Quarry wasn't the sum of his skills. He underachieved due to his thinking, and life choices.
