The President Vs Lennox Lewis

In fact, I'm not looking at those fights only. For me, Lewis only really shone against Ruddock, Golota, and Grant. Namely, when he immediately found punches to solve matters quickly. I'll also add good boxing performances here and there (the Tua fight comes to mind).
For the rest...
- Beat the drugged corpse of Tyson (and he's bragging about this "legacy-defining win" to this day)
- Was not that impressive against Holyfield, both times
- Was behind against Bruno before finding a Hail Mary to save him
- Went life and death with Mercer and Vitali
- Was almost knocked down by Shannon Briggs.
In a nutshell: Lewis is overrated.
I'll have to get around to rewatching it sometime.

Never mind. You have nothing to offer this forum but trolling and insults, just like you had nothing to offer on AOL.Comment

Ike, like Vits got his knockouts through volume punching and attrition. Tyson was also muscle bound but had the explosiveness, Tua as well. Whime the likes of Ike and Vits have top ko percentages i personally wouldn't classify them as one punch ko artists. If Old Lewis didn't get stopped by Vits, I don't think Ike would beat him at his best. Jmo.
This is not to say highly conditioned - hard and strong muscles are not of benefit. this only comes from hard work and consistency however and it’s not gonna be made in the weight room doing powerlifting movements designed to increase the size of ones muscles.Last edited by them_apples; 11-30-2024, 08:24 PM.Comment

He underestimated Mercer, Rahman, Mcall, Vitali and even Holyfield. Mercer could have won as you said, Holyfield probably won one of them and this was Holyfield approaching his shopworn days. Vitali was also on his way to beating Lennox possibly - but the main point is Lewis showed up bordering on fat showing his lack of respect for Vitali. So Lennox is a hard one to rate H2H because he’s all over the place in regards to how he shows up on fight night.
I suppose the best version of Lennox would be the first Holyfield fight - he knows Holyfield is an experienced champion and thus you would think prepared for it and wanted to show the world his capability against a fighter who isn’t scared of him. The result was lacklustre. I still don’t figure IKE to be the one to dethrone Lennox though.Last edited by them_apples; 11-30-2024, 08:33 PM.Comment

Problem with Lewis is he even overates himself and sometimes appears to underestimate opponents. More often than he should.
