March 15, 1983-WBC Flyweight Title-Charlie Magri vs Eleoncio Mercedes
A tremendous war. Rounds 2-4 were non stop action, as both men landed with bombs galore. The tide began to turn in the 5th, as Magri's hooks to the body began slowing Mercedes down. In the 6th, Magri opened a vicious cut above Mercedes' left eye, and in the 7th, the ref stopped the fight. Magri finally wins the title.
October 29, 1988. WBC Bantamweight Title. Raul Perez vs Happy Lora
This fight reminded me so much of the Richie Sandoval-Jeff Chandler fight. Like Chandler, Lora was a dominant champ who seemed invincible. Also like Chandler, his reign came losing to a fighter who thoroughly dominated him. Perez beat Lora from pillar to post the entire fight. Perez's length made it difficult for Lora to get inside. Perez stalked Lora from the opening round, and his long lefts and rights confused the hell out of Happy. Happy had no answer for Perez, and he spent the final few rounds moving just to last the distance. Perez fought a great, near perfect fight as he easily won the 12 round decision to become WBC 118 pound champion.

I can never get tired of watching the perfect technique used by Joe Louis to smash Buddy Baer in their 1942 rematch. It's also a great fight because Joe donaed his entire purse of over $70,000 to the Naval Relief Fund. And the second Muhammad Ali Joe Frazier fight. Ali was sharper, faster, and better all around than he was for either of their other two fights.

dave boy green w rtd 6 joey singleton
singleton a decent boxer with a useful jab but no real power in either hand could not keep the ever advancing green at bay , green as i am sure we all remember was not a stylist at all he would let go wild looking lefts and rights that were mostly wide looping punches and showed almost constant aggression throughout his career in fact his right was nicknamed the muck spreader (green was a agricultural land worker)for most of this fight green was dominating and by the start of the
5Th it seemed the time to call a halt was nigh , singleton battled as best he could but was always receiving more than he gave the 5th ended with singleton cut over each eye and green was also cut, the 6th was more of the same and singletons corner man charlie atkinson retired his man , and green became the british light welterweight champion at the age of 23

I mentioned on another thread that it is only recently that I have gone back to watching boxing after a long lapse of many years (don't have cable TV but now have accelerated ISP for my PC). On justin.tv I have watched many old fights notably those of Pac and Prince Hamed. Recently, I have watched these current fights:
Sergio Martinez > Paul Williams
Juan Manuel Martinez > Michael Katsidis
Carl Froch > Arthur Abraham
Pac > Antonio Margarito
Juanma Lopez > Rafael Marquez
The list of under card matches would be too long to include here. Very glad to have had the opportunity to watch these gems.

On a serious note, I'm very old-fashioned and don't like watching video on my PC. I burn all the fights I get to DVD and watch them on the TV. That's some 2,000 odd fights so I have a bunch of DVDs :chuckle9:
