No he would not. His ko losses to Tarver and Johnson showed that when his reflexes had eroded at 35 his chin could not hold up to a big shot.Comment

Jones didnāt need to bulk up, he just wanted to. A light heavy Jones would beat ruiz as well. The whole game plan for him was stick and move. Because nobody had any proof or study to the effects of bulking - they just assumed it would benefit Jones at HW. Another factor is Jones was very likely just on PEDs. Coming down in weight he probably dropped the peds, and without proper recooperation time to adjust to the lighterweight and no drugs - it weakened himComment

he is a very talented fighter though, and this is why he was able to beat Ruiz who is much larger than himself.
even if you think it was only possible with bulk, never forget that Jones was STILL under 200 lbs. and 5 ft 10. He was a very small heavyweight, one of the smallest ever if we go by frame size. HeĆ¢ĀĀs got the hands and head of a middleweight because thats what he is.
These are very hard fights to predict because of the power of the real heavyweights vs a middleweight chin.
if Jones can avoid getting caught he has a chance to beat these guys , with Joshua being the easiest (we saw him lose to usyk and Jones is better than Usyk) and Wlad the second easiest and Fury is a pickem (would be an awkward fight) Those first 2 are robots and donāt have any tricks whatsoever, so all Jones has to do is fight smart.
the rest probably get him, but not just because they are big, its because they are also strong and hard punchers and Jones has a middleweight chin. Nobody ever said real size wasnāt a factor. It is, but itās a small factor among many. It means very little.Last edited by them_apples; 04-11-2024, 06:06 PM.Comment

Love Roy, he is a once in a century type of talent but he would lose probably by stoppage against all of the fighters mentioned.Comment

Jones isnĆ¢ĀĀt even a former light heavy, no heĆ¢ĀĀs a former middleweight at his best, and even started at 154.

Likewise Archie Moore began boxing at welterweight should we say Marciano was knocked down and stunned so that he blacked out for a couple of seconds [by his own admission,I have the radio interview transcript,] by a "former welterweight?
How big in circumference is Jones head? How big are his fists?
You continuously make statements but never offer any proof of them .
Just like when you said that, after sparring Marciano did 30 rds on the 300lbs bag.I'm still waiting for the proof of this that I requested from you.
If size meant "very little," as you say.Why bother with weight divisions? Why bother with weigh ins? Why fine fighters who fail to make contracted weights?
There is no logic to your arguments.Last edited by Ivich; 04-11-2024, 07:20 PM.Comment

You say he bulked up, just," because he wanted to."
You say Ellis,Byrd,M Spinks,Holyfield , Hay,and Usyk bulked up because they don't know how to fight.
Slugfester said they did it," because its the vogue" None of you will admit they did it to be able to compete with heavier men,to not be bullied in the clinches and to better be able to absorb the punches of bigger men. When in fact everyone who follows boxing knows this was the case!
There is no sense to your argument.Last edited by Ivich; 04-11-2024, 07:27 PM.Comment
