The problem was he was too great too early. He was just a kid 20 years old and he was not equipped or mature enough to handle all the fame and fortune and women and distractions that presented themselves. 85-89 Tyson was simply Jordan, Djokovic, Woods, Brady, Gretzky, Serena all rolled into one. But it was not meant to last long, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, lighting bolts are fleeting. Tyson was a f****** miracle. Atlas is a bitter old sad sack who gets some weird kicks out of slandering one of the greatest champions in sports history.

Tyson has said many times Jack Dempsey was one of his favorite fighters, so in a sense Dempsey is the godfather of Iron Mike and deserves a lot of credit for inspiring Mike by his example and style and brutality. Dempsey vs Willard was a defining moment in heavyweight history!

Yea, they had similar runs to the title. A series of devastating early KOs.

They both were viewed as unstoppable forces as they climbed and both were never the same, both came up short, after a layoff.

Many of parellels... marriage to a movie TV star, controversies with public and media (draft dodger), the dangerous arc of going from broke to multi millions in a couple of years, MO MONEY MO PROBLEMS. This is one of the best interviews I've seen with Mike... https://mrbiofile.com/2022/10/12/bio...son-interview/

Tyson was a made fighter before Rooney took over. What has he done since he was fired by Tyson?

He started to realize that finding a 5'10 220lb HW with a collection of world class genetics like that can only be found once in a lifetime and the peek a boo style is actually a very limited, almost useless style to teach fighters now let alone HW's.

All due respect though, I do find it sad that Rooney has been unwell for a while and might not have much time left.

Mike Tyson was awsome. In the 30 years, since his downfall, who compares with his complete dominance of the Heavyweight division? Nobody!

A young mike Tyson was fire. But his heart and will was never tested. Once it was the real Mike Tyson showed up. A bully like Liston and Tyson are great when thing are going their way. Once there's a bump in the road, they fold like a lawn chair. I hope fans here knows that in a big fight heart and will are major factors in the outcome of a fight.
