Used to be the best AL team end of the season plays the best NL team straight up. Now it's possible for the best team of the season getting eliminated in one of the playoff games, ridiculous but endemic of modern culture.

Who with me? Who ag'in me?
Its a good point Queen B. I agree, with you. Baseball is such a damn streakie sport... Ill never forget when a 128 batting first baseman for KC hit a streak... I forget if they won, but they made it close against St Louis and only because of Steve balboni lol.

I mean I am all for the trudgery, the injuries going into the contest, but there should be a limit where the two best teams are prepared to throw down somewhat in tact.

NFL football seems to have a similar situation/problem.

NFL teams seem to play well in six games streaks and if a team closes the season hot they can roll from the wild card spot to a Super Bowl.

When do you figure the comment you made above started to happen? Asking Queen B the same question if he is reading the thread. I can't put my finger on it... But is true and it is a departure from the past.

              Good analogy.

Baseball is a wonderful past time. A beautiful day in the sun. But I can't watch it on TV, too slow.

                One two games a year.
Ya know Pep... it is an interesting thing. I believe baseball thrives on the crowd... more so than any other sport I can think of. In New York Yankee stadium was never boring when I was a kid. We would cut school (I would steal change and cigarettes out of mom's purse lol) and go to the games and my dad and I would walk through the Bronx to the stadium. But the crown was instrumental! The best example I can think of, which is admittedly not an everyday example... Some brilliant individual decided to have "bat day" at the stadium... FOR a double header!!! Now you have how many drunk Puerto Ricans, and other assorted fans in a hot stadium with baseball bats, not for a game, but TWO games!!!

I will never forget this, it is the last inning of the first game and the Yankees are down 8-0. The fans are really getting ugly and start to hit the seats with bats and curse... You can see the California players are a little spooked and sure enough, guy bobbles an easy grounder, guy on first, a few hits, a few more bobbles... the fans are going absolutely bonkers now, Roy White gets up, the yankees have made it 8-4, bases are loaded, he hits it out of the park! You can imagine.

My point is, when you get a game like that? you do not need constant action, the anticipation is electric. Close games were always amazing!

                  - - I last watched the Phoenix Cardinals win a World Series, and here we had Texas Ranger broadcasts that featured some serious sluggers and feisty journeymen in their Indian Summer while grilling next to cooler of beer underneath my big oaks.

What 15 yrs ago? Boxing is starting to enter the same realm. I quit DAZN because of their way overproduced formatting and technical issues made it a pain to watch.

Saw most of AJ's career though, and though usual dolts now down on him, no heavy accomplished as much as he did with such a limited number fight fights since JJJeff and JJCorbett.
