I liked Holmes but he was a technician. Lots of jabs that set up his right hand. One of the best jabbers in the sport, but unless his opponent was pushing the action he was content to counter or win with the jab.

yeah i agree. i wonder if his sparring days with ali he learned that jabbing skill that he used to great success in his era.

Def a case of the student taking out the teacher down the line, likely something neither saw coming for the future

yeah holmes was always subordinate to ali from what i have watched at dear lake sparring sessions.
That got me thinking about how many sparring partners go on to topple their betters.
I once saw fury saying he went by himself to detroit to train with steward and i don't know if he sparred with klitschko but there are photo's of them together at the time.
Foreman sparred with liston when he was younger. I suppose now i think about it that must be the way it always is in boxing.

I believe Fury and Wlad sparred. Most famous is the sauna sessions though. Fury has told how Wlad used to go to the sauna with his sparring partners (I know it sounds gay af lol), and Wlad could stay in there the longest and he kept turning up the heat. I think Fury said he bested Wlad and subsequently was kicked out of camp lmao.

PS: I go by memory and the story might not be told correctly.

When bore vs bore, then something really exciting happens--nothing at all. Can anyone recall classic bore vs bore matches from the past.

aajames-dean.jpg queeny as a young man in texas after his lil peice of land struck oil.
i love his way with words. he is abrupt and funny but you can't run down ali. if i had a lower iq i could enjoy debating with him, i ask you a quiz question. what is the connection between ali and mabutu sesse seiko?

yes i can. i remember this fight lewis vs Zeljko Mavrovic i found this fight so dull. it went the distance.
see why fury is so popular? because he gets you feeling motivated and he builds up the fight. lewis may be the greatest possibly but he could be dull at times. eastern europeans can be godamned boring too. this fight Zeljko Mavrovic boring it was. never heard from him again i think he was injured and had to quit boxing.
how is it lewis could be so good like against gallota yet other times so dull.
