  • Boxing Telecast Help

    Hello,
I am a boxing researcher and I am trying to get correct weights for World Championship Fights. The issue I’m trying to overcome is that a lot of fights in foreign countries where the weigh-in was done in kilos and grams have weights entered in lbs using American and British sources. And the conversions from kilos to lbs is often wrong. So I am trying to confirm the weights of the following fights using the telecasts or some local source that gives weights in kilos and grams.

If anyone has any of the following fights (I have already checked what’s on YouTube), can you post the weights in kilos and grams announced or shown on the telecast for me? I would add any changes directly into BoxRec. I appreciate any help.

There are free calculators online where you can covert the weight to pounds or kilos.

May I make a suggestion? Regardless of any information you may find regarding someone announcing the weights in "stones" or whatever, Your problem is a simple one: Make sure you verify the math on the conversion. You should do so anyway... There is no "right" or "wrong" on a conversion.

He didn't claim to be a an experienced researcher. Its the intrawebs... Could be a 13 or 63 year old lol. But it should be dully noted that conversions are not subjective elements in the research process. Unless YOU are NASA and CONFUSE the metric system with good ole Murica!.

HEY! Maybe we have a NASA scientist among us! The Polish division is getting ready to go to the sun ya know? they plan to go at night.

Maybe I didn’t convey the point of the list. Most of the weights that are given are from American or British sources. Because they aren’t from the original weigh-in, the conversions are all guesses and many have been proven wrong from local sources. For the fights listed, I couldn’t find a local newspaper that had a report on the weigh-in which is why I asked to get the weights from the foreign telecast or announcement in the ring.

But I am a researcher. I have been a BoxRec editor for almost 20 years and I worked on the Boxing Register book of IBHOF fighters. Getting the correct weights for these fights is a passion project of mine so I was hoping someone would have a telecast or two from the list I need. I have found/confirmed weights on over a hundred of these fights already. I would appreciate any help.

I guess I didn’t explain myself well. Because the weights are given in lbs in American and British sources, the weights are already converted. However, the actual weigh-in was done in kilos and grams and when I found local sources, many of the conversions in the American and British sources were wrong. I’m trying to use local newspaper sources or fight telecasts to directly get the weights in kilos and grams straight from the weigh-in. If you have any of these fights or know someone that does, I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
