The Razor Ruddock versus Mike Tyson Battles with some extra footage of a young Rudock.

These fights were incredible. You can really see a prison jacked Tyson, and some of the last fights where we saw the supremely talented Razor Ruddock. Unfortunately RR injured an arm and became a very diffent, one armed fighter... sort of a reverse of James Braddock who became a very injured two handed fighter!

I will assume someone would want to call me out on that last assertion, I certainly would call myself out. So here is an old tape of Ruddock sparring Queenies favorite fighter! Tubby lars, also known to us in the sane world as Larry Holmes.

can i just be very juvenile for this if you indulge me. In the build up to the fight tyson said to ruddock "i'll make you my girlfriend" and we all couldn't stop laughing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raM9QG1v2vU
I really enjoy the trash talk in the build up to a title fight.
Ruddock was a very good boxer just that he fought mike and lennox in their best moments. He had a very powerful punch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFpYU43QU4c&t=305s
i think like bowe he really was unfortunate who he bumped into.

Yeah Tyson was a force of nature. I was in college when he was knocking them down lol. I am glad he found himself these days.

Tyson's form is perfect, his punching the result of perfect technique expressing perfect mechanics. He retains excellent punching mechanics even when tired or in trouble, his form is not broken. He doesn't know serious arm punches unless he can't get free or is too tired to want free.

That perfect form results from being spotted early and taken in is as a possible boxing prodigy to mold, by an absolute master of boxing training and boxing philosophy, no less respected in his world of boxing world than Horowitz in the world of Piano. an acknowledged virtuoso. Grand master musicians take in such poor kids all the time. Those kids are going to have perfect form on piano before it is over.

Mike also really studied Dempsey. Both men could throw a hook in a phone booth! (err probably dating myself there with the phone booth reference lol). Also both men have a tendency to let any stepping movement turn into a punch. And finally, the sheer explosive qualities that Tyson picked up upon from Dempsey.
