  • Another Sonny Liston interview

Perhaps this vid has been posted here before. Anyway ...

What's really odd is when he is talking about his only loss before becoming champ.
    Where were the cornermen?

Liston was a genuine tough guy, and a nice guy as well. Every interview with him he is very reserved and respectful. I'm out and haven't gotten a chance to watch this one yet, but I'm more impressed with Liston as time goes on and believe he was very misunderstood.

According to his friends, at this stage of his life he had become a humble man (hopefully, life teaches us all to get more humble with age).
But that you shouldn’t share a drink with him, he didn’t always react well to alcohol.

In a book I read several years ago, it said he kept a su****ious mind to people, except for children, in whose company he felt comfortable.

It was obvious by then that Sonny wanted to be a good boy and was on his best behavior. No more stuffing policemen into a garbage can for him. Also underrated. It just may be that he beats any heavyweight ever, with the sole exception of Ali. That is all that was actually ever prove. It is also generally accepted, I believe, that he would have beaten that same version of Ali in a rematch.

Whoops! I meant Foreman would have beaten him in a rematch.

          - - Yeah, been posted not so long ago, but others who may not have seen it now have a chance to see it.

The host an obscure Denver TV personality obviously a people person made Sonny feel welcome to get a great interview out of him, not nearly so exploitive as today's media.

I noticed the interviewer did not shake hands with Sonny at the end.

                - - Did you not watch the interview?

Spent over 5 min examining, talking, and comparing Sonny big hands to his own.

                Extraneous statement by you...

Do interviewers shake hands with guests? I don't think it's protocol. They usually just turn to the camera and say goodnight. I have to watch now and see.
