For anyone curious, too young to remember or for those who need to brush up, this is why I made this thread. I think that in just 15 fights he DID MORE THAN VITALI ever did. Ring ranked favor of the month prospects notwithstanding.

Well it's a fact Byrd went on and was better than anyone Vits ever beat. That said, I still disagree. Vits overall body of work trumps Ike in my opinion.

          - - Engraved in stone that Vitali let l'l bro have Byrd for an easy candy title while in recuperation from shoulder surgery.

Really? Byrd said he wanted the Vits rematch and they said no and sold him on Wlad instead. Even if it were the way you say, Vits still could have rematched him down the road. Even Wlad rematched Byrd, and he actually won when they fought.

              - - Not after Byrd became a DKing fighter. Wlad only gave him a lucrative rematch after Byrd's miserable contract with King ran out.

It's like you can only babble about boxing without know the least little thing about it.

Vits could have had that fight for years. He didn't want it. Just like Wlad never wanted the Sanders rematch. Can't change the facts. Funny how you say the K's didn't want to deal with King, but put their own extreme conditions into contracts. Either way, a duck is a duck. Keep quacking!!

The 1990's were a talent rich time of heavyweight boxing. I think he could have beaten Lewis, and would beat Holyfield. But he went to prison before either could happen.
                  - - Went to prison because Tua gave him a permanent headache he could never shake, the source of all his ills.

Tua lost an arguable decision, but won the WAR that is far more responsible than some flimsy fight.

Nobody know who Ike is, and there was never the rivalry of a proposed fight like Mike and Roy had going in their day.
They know who Tyson is. They paid a fortune to see Mayweather beat up a 40 year old sparring partner that nobody hear of.

Ike and Tua was one of the best fights. As he was on that night, if anyone chose to fight Ike that way they would probably lose.
