  • Smooth legends HD Louis vs Walcott

older Louis, but you can see his skills and Walcotts as well. Louis very subtle and untelegraphed, wastes no energy at all. Walcott expends a lot more energy in this fight than Louis and pays the price later. Hoping we get prime Louis in this quality one day. almost important to note Louis doesn't eat ALL walcotts rights, he's very clever and sliding them off (the frame rate barely picks up the movement)

This is a great video as Louis is slowed down and you can see his movements better. Young fast Louis in the 30's requires extensive upscaling to make his movements noticeable.

Louis' jab is damn near perfect. 0 tell, straight as an arrow and varying speeds he throws it at.

for the record, young prime Louis beats 99% of fighters that came after him. Boxing is very old, it was very old when Louis fought in his times even.

some footage of Louis sparring in 1948, shows his beating headmovement and ability to ride the blows - you can't see this when the footage is far away and of lower quality. these guys were really good at evading damage and creating openings.

Louis is a technical marvel on offense and he has plenty of fine defensive maneuvers as well many built around keeping him in range to punish his foe. He's happy to risk the odd blow (not too many mind) and the odd glancing blow to get his own slashing combinations in, combinations that can change or end a fight at any moment.

Is it me, or does Louis look much thicker and stronger in that HD trading footage shot from a closer angle that his fights?

the better quality the footage, the more realistic it get's. The more frames we get, the more we see. You couldn't even see all the little micromovements 10 yrs ago. It's one thing great about AI.

And yeah, Louis is what? 212-215? in this fight not sure and 6 ft 2, we saw him stand beside Ali and Foreman, he's a heavyweight all right, big ass head, hands and deep voice (large voice box)

it's funny it get's closer and closer to how the old sports writers used to describe him.

This is a chopped down version and more edited than the 20 or so minuets of the Louis vs Walcott film. Why did they hack and chop the film in the first place? Might it be because Louis lost on fair score cards? The Louis vs. Godoy first film I think is not compete either. My father actually met Joe Louis in Las Vegas as a greeter. PM me for his thoughts, this goes for anyone.

How many fights of that era were not edited to sell on Super 8mm film or be shown at cinemas? Very. very few. I began collecting them in the early 60's Louis,Johnson,Marciano,Dempsey were all marketed as "collections" and none of them were complete fights, I know because I bought them!
Super Fights.Classic Fights,Ring Battles,BlackHawk Films, they were al advertised in the Ring magazine and other trade magazines like.Boxing Illustrated,World Boxing.Ko,and Boxing News , all of which I subscribed to.
You speak from agenda driven ignorance. As per usual.

ps A minuet is a dance! lol

Louis was customarily 10 /15 lbs over his fighting weight for exhibitions sometimes more.
