  • Billy Conn's rank at middleweight

Where do you think Billy Conn should rank amongst middleweight greats? Personally I think he should be in the top 20. His resume at middle is far better than Roy Jones who ranks 15th by the IBRO. Though he never won a title at 160 and fought just over the limit fights many times, he beat some excellent names. Opinions?

Lol.......don't be mean. That dude is different. Besides, that's as good a list and any. For the record, the IBRO lists Conn as a Lightheavy (of course)..

            He's an idiot.

They do rate him at lightheavy, but if you comb over his resume he has some excellent names at middleweight. Enough so at least in my opinion that it could be argued a top 20 spot.

Conn certainly has a better middleweight resume than Jones, Fitzsimmons, arguably Ketchel. No doubt he could fight.

It’s a good list though, and relevant since you used it as reference in the op.

I'm not saying it isn't relevant nor a good list. I'm asking for opinions based on Conn's own middleweight resume. As I've pointed out, his resume is certainly better than some others who have made the top 20. But resume isn't the end of of all time great, just a major component. Maybe some of his wins were past their best. Maybe it hurts his standing he never won a championship at that weight. I don't know. But it seems to me his middleweight wins are very much forgotten which surely is a reason for not being ranked.
