What kind of name is Greb? Was he of Eastern European decent? Guess I'll see if Wikipedia says his heritage? That face is hard to place. The nose may not actually be his but instead a tribute to (result of) the style of fighting we have been speaking of.

Those cheek bones and eyes say maybe a little American Indian in the woodpile. Kind of like Dempsey's look.

I can't remember for sure, but I believe he had German and native American bloodlines. His face certainly looks to have native American in it to me.

Are you basing your whole argument on two warnings in 5 fights? Even after Tunney said “I categorically state that Harry Greb was not a foul fighter."?

You know his style sounds very much how that Mendoza guy described him.

No I'm describing his actions in just a few fight which including a few of his fouls and the ref wearing Greb to stop the fight due to his fouling ways. Just a few fights researched.

Where can I read more of them?! You have been told yet you still won't admit the obvious. This Mendoza guy you mentioned says show me the DQ's but if he looked a little bit harder he would see that Greb has one vs Norfolk! Outside of that I think he's okay.

Oh but there plenty more on Greb fouling and the ref warnig him.

Greb was disappointing. He had taken off 13 1/2 pounds in 10 days and did not fight at his accustomed speed, yet won 13 of the 15 rounds.

Moore took only rounds 6 and 7. The referee spent three minutes before the fight talking to Greb about fouls and this probably inhibited Harry's efforts.

The Pittsburgh Post reported that Greb did not fight in his usual cyclonic style. Evidently

fearing disqualification he boxed in orthodox style. Wilson punched mainly for the body, winning the 10th, 14th, and 15th rounds. Greb took all of the others. The 8th was Harry's best round, and next to that the second. Greb won beyond argument even though he fought flat-footed. He was too quick and busy for the plodding Wilson. Nevertheless, it was not of Harry's better showings. (This is from the report of Regis Welsh.) Some writers thought that Greb still used a lot of rough tactics. One writer thought that the fight was close. All accounts showed that it was an ordinary fight, lacking thrills. Neither man was ever in danger of being stopped.

"If Weinert bore a reputation for quitting, he earned a new title for gameness before the final bell ended his torture and he groped with bloody vision toward his corner."

Ok, so show me all the fighters calling Greb dirty. You given me the opinion of someone in the press. A ref that supposedly warned him for what? There is no description of that. And finally an assumption that Greb didn't fight his usual fight for fear of disqualification. None of this shows Greb was intentionally dirty, which has been my point all along. You're doing a fine job of proving Harry was indeed a rough and tumble fighter, but a terrible job proving any kind of intention. Word of fighters over word of reporters.

The fouls the mentioned, The Pittsburgh press ( Greb's home town news paper ) and the booing of the fans, and hall of fame says he's dirty. You say dirty, I say rough. If there are quotes from fighters like Tunney saying he wasn't intentionally dirty, than why aren't there any from fighters saying he was dirty? As rough as he was I'd honestly expect something to pop up, but I haven't found it yet.

You also have to remember, there was no television back then. Using colorful descriptions sold newspapers.

I've said this repeatedly, Greb certainly fouled, I'm not denying that. Given the description of his style its not surprising to be honest. Does that mean he did it deliberately? I haven seen much evidence of that to call him an intentionally dirty fighter. As for me, id rather see him mug his opponents all day than d**** himself over them clinching. Can we at least agree on that?

From the link I shared Loughran said it. I don't remember seeing Tunney make that statement, but I'm not saying it's impossible either. I'm covering my bases here!!
