    , not superman.
No doubt he was ,but some make him out to have been a hybrid of Paul Bunyan, Davey Crockett, and Superman. After he turned his back on Johnson at Reno the public had no more use for him and his name was mud.
He went from being ,"The Great Undefeated Champion Of the White Race," to being a busted flush.

      - - He and Sharkey made a mint for decades after Reno fighting exhibitions. The people remembered, but not the morons...

No not really. After Jeffries saloon, run by his brother Jack, and his farm failed and an attempt to turn his barn into a boxing venue petered out,it later became
part of the Knotts Berry Farm ,he was never again really wealthy, and was forced to do exhibitions with Sharkey when both were old men.Perhaps he also lost money in the Wall Street crash?Jack Dempsey certainly did

        Jeffries deserved better.

          - - So did Benny Leonard who made a pretty good comeback.

Dempsey went straight into coast to coast exhibitions fighting all comers expecting a comeback, but he also managed Max Baer and chose to go that route along with refereeing and managing other fighters instead of fighting young Joe Louis whom he probably didn't even know about until later.

I knew about Jeff's post JJ failures, but he was never poor and must of done well such that he and Sharkey were so highly attended in their dozens of exhibitions.

Langford retired broke, blind, and itinerate until a sportswriter took up a subscription that bought him a room in a boarding house where he was cared for. JJohnson was broke through the depression, but JJeannette owned a Chauffer/Taxi service and did well as did Wills who took his 50K Dempsey guarantee to buy an apartment.

Leonard was wiped out by the crash, McLarnin showed him he couldn't come back .

Dempsey's exhibition tour was abruptly cut short when King Levinsky got the better of him.
Dempsey never managed Baer, that was Ancil Hoffman who had ties to some "interesting people".

Dempsey was briefly associated with a couple of fighters including a German heavy Hein Ten Hoff,I dont know if he ever officially managed him or Galento with whom he was also once linked.
Langford was discovered in a one room hovel ,that reporter took up a subscription for him that enabled him to have a few luxuries.

Langford's manager Joe Woodman may have loved Sam but he also spent a large part of their combined income on the horses.

Johnson was pretty much on the floor when he came out of Leavenworth and he ended up spieling in a flea circus. Jeannette did okay as did Wills.

              - - Dempsey managed and may well have trained Max coming up.

Benny was 19-0-1 over a 2 year span when he faced McLarnin, a damned fine comeback after 7 years retirement living the high life. The combined record of his opponents would break the bank of any modern champ.

Dempsey had a few more bouts after Levinsky.

Dempsey jumped in the ring in street clothes to KO Galento who had been bad mouthing him in a public sparring session is that association.

We still don't know U furtive associations, but U attempts here have been largely futile.

Dempsey never trained or managed Baer.
Dempsey had more exhibitions sure, his one with Cowboy Luttrell is on You Tube, but any ambitions of seriously returning to the ring were firmly squashed when Levinsky embarrassed him.

Leonard's comeback whilst financially necessary ,was a joke.he fought a collection of nobodies.

Eighteen fights with men who had 460 losses between them. Two of them laid down,Pal Silver and Joe Trippe.
Dempsey didnt ko Galento but he did belt him around.

Instead of always looking for some glib childish insult why don't you do some research?
I've tried to be civil to you on two threads today, but your ingrained infantilism makes it very difficult.
I guess LEPERS really can't change their spots.

That Luttrell tape... Oy vay! What a dingleberry! Good beard though. Galento and Luttrell had this "look." When I was a kid when you went into a ****tail lounge (so called back then) there was always a washroom attendant, that is what those two kind of looked like to me.

Maybe Dempsey liked "The great one" Jackie Gleason... Apparently Gleason was laid out by Galento years back... Apparently Galento was heckling him fierce and Gleason offered to take it outside at break time... the rest is painful history.
