Ruiz had shed some weight, but was still as fat as Tony Galento ever was.
Poor fight very pedestrian, Oritz relying on the southpaw lead and the very occasional straight left, did far too little.
Ruiz stood off much too much he has no head movement ,and should have been rolling under the lead and coming up to the body.Usyk would mince him.
Oritz is now a back number a hyped old fighter with a very shallow resume
He took those punches better than Joshua did. I think Ruiz allowed him to fight at that pace because Ortiz hits hard too

      - - Ortiz still a decent contender, but not as good after Wilder who is even more degraded now as is Blubber who may be punch drunk at this time.

Silly. Wilder a lock at no. 2 of the era of the big boys.

I think once Ortiz chin-checked him a few times, Ruiz knew he had to look for quick openings and hang back

                - - True, but in large part to major knee surgery with long layoff. Andy suddenly woke up and realized it's now or never with Father Time looming.

I agree. It seemed apparent that Ruiz had his hands full, and no surprise there. If Ortiz could muster the comparative youth he had in his first title shot and the Joshua II/Arreola version of Ruiz Jr had turned up, Ortiz was taking this one. But we saw an (even) older Cuban against the version of Ruiz who steamrolled A.J., and that translated to a competitive W for Andy. Now we should get to see a near blockbuster featuring America's two best.

Jack Johnson always said Luis Ortiz was his best sparring partner.
