So, let’s discard the promoters, get rid of the exclusive streaming services like DAZN and stream 90% of fights for free on YouTube or Twitch where the chances of broadening into a younger audience is at its highest. Only the absolute biggest fights and garunteed moneymakers can be PPV.
#2. People are right when they say there’s too many belts. So first, at least one of the sanctioning bodies is going to have to crumble to the ground. The most ideal outcome would be all of them merging into one org. But if I had to be a little more realistic about this, then I’d single out the WBA to get the axe. The sole reason is for starting this whole BS of having a regular and super champion; it is arguably more guilty of creating more worthless titles than any other organization. Hopefully, seeing WBA crumble will send a message to the other orgs to do away with their own fake titles. From now on, you’re either that org’s champ or you’re not; no interim, regular, super, youth, or continental championships.
#3. Only championship title matches are allowed to be 12 rounds long; all other fights can only be a maximum of 10 rounds. I want to see at least one of the sanctioning orgs experiment with a system like this. I personally feel that 10 rounds is typically the right amount to ensure an interesting bout. The longer you allow a match to go, the more the fighters are going to drag it out and slow down the action for the sake of saving their energy for later on when they’ve long lost the audience’s attention. With just 10 rounds, there’s more urgency and therefore more incentive to get on the offensive. And if a ten round match ends up being boring anyway, well at least you didn’t have to sit through it for 12 or god forbid 15. Could you imagine having to sit through Rigondeaux’s fights with Donaire and Casimero for 15 rounds? No thx
    1. Either too much socialism or too much monopoly. Either way your plan is an afront to our market economy and in the long run a market economy always out produces a command economy. Going your way (DAZN), we may well get more, but with less quality.

    2. If you now have multiple examples of the same problems coming out of various bodies, creating one scantioning body will leave you with all the same problems, but now unchecked by the other bodies. Once again you are suggesting creating a monopoly (or an oligarchy of the few) but this time with an organization already corrupted by bribes and with no transparency. Once again better to leave it to an open market. Better to have none; second best is to have too many.

    3. I thought that was pretty much the going standard.

P.S. Isn't the guy from the UFC currently struggling with anti-trust suits?

IMO got to make it happen without opening the door to scantioning bodies.

Also I think three times a year would ware out champions too quickly and make marketing a fight a touch fo difficult. Twice a year would seem better to me.

What is the average length of a training camp for a championship defense? IDK I am asking.

If it is three months, one mental and two physical, three defenses a year leaves a champion little time to have a private life.

But as I said IDK the usual length a fighter trains for a big fight.
Most training camps are 8-10 weeks. If fighters are doing same day weigh-ins and fighting more frequently I suspect they’ll make a greater effort to stay close to their fighting weight year round.

I’d say the wins-losses will dictate who gets title shots. Sanctioning bodies can order eliminators which should be competitive contests between two opponents who have beaten all the other ranked fighters of their respective weight class. Not saying there isn’t room for shenanigans and corruption, but fans will dictate whether or not they approve of contenders with their wallets.
