The boys will be fighting with the equipment and customs that the oldest fighter in the match used in his day.

      Robinson/Hagler

      Robinson/Monzon

      Robinson/Greb

      Robinson/Langford

      Hagler/Langford

        - - Me vs Poppy

I could easy fight him 5x because he can't punch and I'm too low for him to butt.

Greb lost to Mike Gibbons but later beat him. The fight Mike won may have been no more than a newspaper fight or an exhibition. I don't know if Mike beat him in a real fight the first time. Too lazy to look. Greb may have won when it counted.

I'm gonna limit myself to only one fight per boxer, which I think makes it more fun on my part.

                - Hagler vs Monzon: This is the gold standard, the two greatest middleweights any of us had ever seen. A cold blooded killer vs the hardest man ever to enter the ring- and both extremely skilled and gifted. Amazing matchup.

-Greb vs Hopkins: Greb may be the greatest ever, but none of us had ever seen him. With his ultra aggressive, non-stop, style I thought matching him against a defensive specialist, who could fight dirty and stink things up. Greb is probably a couple of levels above; but I think the contract of styles would be intriguing.

-SRR vs RJJ: This is not yet prime Jones vs a post prime SRR- though Robinson is closer to his best. Still, RJJ is the best athlete ever to lace them up, and is a little bigger. I'd love to see the best athlete go up against probably the best fighter.

-GGG vs LaMotta: Not much defense, not much slipping punches. Two iron chinned, aggressive, punching machines. ACTION PACKED!

-Ketchel vs Walker: Because it would be insanity.

Could also add in Freddie Steele, Mike McCallum, Julian Jackson, and Gene Fulmer into a mix of interesting fights.

I always wanted to see Hagler vs:

                  Carter
                  **** Tiger
                  Monzon
                  Benton
                  Burley

I feel Hagler missed a really tough bunch (even a lot of the contenders in that period, like Holly Mims) but would sit right in the thick of it, or even upped his level. I do think he was great, but he never really got to face fearsome competition to really prove it. He has some underrated wins no doubt, but he never had many true 160 lb rivals in his division. I know Hagler often voiced he beat a lot of tough underrated guys coming up, and he's right he did - but even these guys were levels below the said bunch.

I started thinking this after watching a good quality version of Briscoe vs Hagler. Right away I noticed Briscoe was a tough breed like Hagler, he defended well and took a great punch. He was also finished, and fighting for money at this point, probably 10 lbs too heavy. Hagler was able to soundly outbox him, but not able to hurt him or anything beyond that. Brisco got his share of beats in as well. Keep in mind this was an old Briscoe, and Briscoe also supposedly never reached the level of Hagler even in his prime.

                    - - 154 was a relative new division in Hagler/Monzon era stolen from traditional middle division.

They faced the best save Marv wasn't ready in that 5 yr overlap of the end of Monzon career...sorted!
