Bigger, stronger than Joe Frazier, he gave him a mauling before Frazier finally warmed up. Both are guys you want backing you in your foxhole.

Ron Stander stood tough against champion Joe Frazier on May 25 1972, May He Rest In Peace.

        A naturally tough fellow.

On this forum, who believes in afterlife? I give it a decent shot. I don't believe in everlasting hell, however, because it seems inconsistent with a forgiving God. What if what you believe is what you get? What would you get?

But that only works for a forgiving God . . . Half the Christian population believes in an authoritative God, one willing to punish . . . Half these people beat their children.

Use to be you could use religious denominations to ID one's political affiliation, e.g. Catholic = ********; Methodist = **********. But that consistency seems to have disappeared.

Today you can use the terms authoritative; benevolent; and distant God and get a better feel for one's political commitment.

          A belief in a(n) . . .

          Authoritative God = Conservative
Benevolent God = Conservative or *******
          Distant God = *******

I heard about it. I admit that I actually forgot about the guy until I heard he passed.

And he'll be gone from your memory tomorrow.

Sorry about his passing, but how he got a shot over Mac Foster is puzzling.

                    - - Quarry KOed Mac, and since Frazier had already KOed Quarry in their 1969 Fight of the Year performance, Stander got the call.
