The bout with Lyle was not Foreman at his best. Probably the worst bout in his prime years. Williams would not last 2 rounds vs Prime Foreman. Williams did not have the durability to hang in there with George.

Anyone know if George has been quoted on the matter? Not assigning much meaning to it as he tends to dabble in false modesty towards such questions, but of couse they were familiar from days sparring in Houston.

Foreman has spoken that Williams was one of the men who shivered his timbers. The other two that I know of him specifically giving credit to for their punching power are Lyle and Cooney. He may not even have included Sonny in his onetime list of hardest punchers he fought or sparred with.
