Yes, the handspeed and power would be to much for Leonard.

Leonard became a coke hound. He never had ATG traditional defensive boxing skills anyway. Instead, he had ATG boxing gifts. Those fast legs kept him out of danger, not genius defensive moves a la Mayweather; lightning reflexes made his victories possible, not a toolbox full of traditional skills. Once the physical gifts begin to decline, so does the fighter that relies heavily on them. Witness Roy Jones, Clay and Leonard, but not Mayweather. For Floyd had himself a grand toolbox built on boxing tradition and science which enabled him to remain victorious for longer without resorting to also taking a beating in the process, graciously assisted by cherry picking, as we all know, of course.

Leonard had many other touts besides fast-twitch fibers. He possessed the full range of hurtful punches, a chin ranking about 8 on a 10-scale, superlative ring generalship (actually, the best ever), strategies galore and indomitable will.
