Wow, good find. Gotta ask, was this something you already knew of, or did you do some digging around?

Boy do I disagree with that . . . WORST UNDERCARD EVER!

      A Don King Promotion

      Preamble to Bramble

Abel Holtz Stadium, USA, FL, Miami Beach,09/26/1986

      Six undercard fights

Three first round KOs, one 2nd round KO, and one DQ for refusing to fight (all noncompetitive) . . . Oh, and one 6 round PTS victory.

      MAIN EVENTS:

Bramble gets blow out in two rounds by Rosario

Camcho refuses to engage Boza-Edwards, causing the crowd for most of the fight to chant "RUN HECTOR RUN"

Every once in a while I still write Don King Promotions asking for my $100 back. He never answers.

I did write a scathing letter to KO Magazine which they printed. I guess they felt the same way.

P.S. The best part of the night . . . King took money from two different local promoters both of whom appeared with Round Cards with their names on them. A fight broke out between the two companies as to which cards would be used. The poor ring card girl (from a local tity bar) got caught in the middle and was pushed around. Only in boxing!

It's a very famous promotion, called "Carnival of Champions"... so yes, this was something I already knew.

The Carnival of Champions moniker has been used several times.

Uncle Mike Jacob's stole the name for his 1937 Polo Grounds fights from the original Carnival of Champions held at the Olympic Club in New Orleans which occurred over three days in September 1892.

Jack McAuliffe stopped Billy Meyer for the World Lightweight Title on the 5th

George Dixon stopped Jack Skelly for the World Featherweight Title on the 6th.

and Corbett stopped Sullivan for the World Heavyweight Title on the 7th.

Don King also stole the name for his Superdome spectacular (also held in New Orleans) for his 1982 promotion which included Hearns v. Benitez and Pintor v. Gomez plus several other fights.

            - -Good stuff Pep. Older fighters and promotions seldom get talked about on this forum.

Matthysse vs. Danny Garcia was the undercard for the Floyd/Canelo fight. It certainly upstaged the main event.
