There is a big difference between Prime Durans Speed and the Speed of Shane.
Duran had very good reflexes, was very hard to hit, while putting unbelievebale pressure on his opponents. He could box, if he has to, and his boxing skills are far superior than Shanes. Shanes speed is natural and he still has plenty, while a late Duran wasnt the fastest anymore (but do not compare Prime Duran of the 70s with the Duran in Brawl of Montreal or the later 80s).
I am a huge fan of both, but I see Duran in nearly every aspect as the better fighter.
Duran was very heavy handed, while Shane is imo more of a speed and volume Puncher, even if he one Knockout victims. Everybody saw what happened to Shanes Power in LightMiddleweight. Duran was always a hard hitter (maybe not anymore in the 90s). Even Hagler was cautios in their fight, and Hagler has maybe the P4P best chin.

As we go Prime Duran against a Prime Shane Mosley, I would go with a Easy UD for Duran, maybe a Knockdown late. Duran doesnt have a good jab, it was Ok and he needed his jabs to start getting and preparing nasty shots, a messing jab. In this aspect, the Jab, height and reach, Shane is superior, but he likes to brawl too much, and when it comes to brawling, no Lightweight ever will beat Duran.

Nobody beats Duran in their Lightweight primes even Mosley IMO but it would be an entertaining fight.

I think it might be a close fight, either very close or the fight comes up short. I'm gonna go with one of my favorite fighter of all time, Duran.

I see a very physical bruising sort of fight. Duran, the better boxer, harder to hit, takes a close UD

Duran should win, as he's the better, more polished fighter. Better defense and also had an amazing arsenal of punches offensively.

Mosley does have a size edge though. Not just height and reach (Mosley would go to war anyway), but also in weight due to rehydration and weigh-in rules.

I find it ******ed how the majority of ppl think that any great fighter of the past would beat any great fighter of today, easily at that... Thats COMPLETE BULLLLLLL****.
I beleive fighters are wayyy more athletic 2day than they were in the past.

Sure Duran was great but he definately wasnt unbeatable.

                      Good post I agree.
People seem to be looking at post 1980 Duran then imagining him as a lightweight.
