Zach Clayton was interviewed and was asked about ring size for the Ali Foreman bout. He stated it was the smallest ring he ever refereed a fight. He said it appeared to be a 16 foot ring.Comment

Dempsey-Tunney I was a 16 foot ring (I heard). The next year Tunney got a bigger ring and needed it. Sounds like Foreman was being indulged but more likely the only ring they had.Comment

I know that the 3rd fight between Leonard and Duran was not considered to be much of a fight, but the ring looked pretty big to me. Does anyone know the ring size and glove size for that bout?
I understand that Duran needed money at the time, so Leonard probably could have had anything he wanted in the contract (Big ring, big gloves, 12 rounds, catchweight).Last edited by Saban; 06-29-2021, 12:02 AM.Comment

The reason the ropes were loose I’ve read was because the ring size was so small. They did not have ropes designed for that small of a ring.Comment

Maybe . . . it is possible that wsas an Edison ring. His camera had a problem covering the entire ring. In the Corbett-Fitzsimmons go the camera couldn't catch the corners and as Corbett crawls to the ropes (after the famed punch) he crawls out of the frame.
Edison had a rinky-dink ring (the black maria [sp]) which he used to film exhibitions.Comment
