History will not give Fury or Joshua credit for not cleaning up the HW division

If Fury or Joshua want any standing as champions 20 years from now they need to start fighting. AJ has only fought Pulev, Ruiz, and Povetkin. Fury has only fought Wilder, Wallin and Schwarz. They had opportunities to clean up the division but opted not to take chances of exposing themselves.

They could manipulate their current situations to their best economic advantage or they could base their decisions on what people will think of them 20 years from now.

    Now what would you do?

You should join in with the Dempsey-Johnson arguments you'll fit right in with the other romantics.

P.S. HI! -- They'll probably fight soon there is a dearth of competition and the fan base is losing it's excitement for both if them. They will soon need each other and then we'll get the fight.

It’s a difficult fight to find a venue under pandemic limitations. This is a fight that deserves the 100K or better attendance at a large venue. I believe they are trying to make this fight but having trouble securing the purse demands. Saudi and the rest of the Middle East investors have left promoters hanging on several occasions.

To be fair to both men, they each have less fights than most other former champions. I think they have done quite a bit in a short span of time. Wilder waited 39 fights before finally fighting a top level opponent. He also ducked Whyte.

I don't think they'll be universally judged until they actually retire. If they retire, and they never got around to fighting the best opposition, then they'll get the legacy they deserve (or lack thereof).

Although I do think Fury and/or Joshua will try to clear out their division before they retire.

They fought too many OLD men, and too many non top ten raked guys, They badly need to fight each other. Well see if they do.

Kind of philosophical question. I like it. I can imagine, we all ask that question to ourselves at times.
As if it matters, to us ordinary people. We will be forgotten already before we given up our last breath.

But to a boxer who wants to make it into the history books, it matters.
                  On the deathbed, when money
no longer is of importance, how one will be remembered
[as a fighter] is what counts.

My guess is, Fury and Joshua will clash. And win or lose, in the end none of them will regret it.
They were there, in the ring against each other, leaving a legacy.

Fury only needs to stomp Joshua and Nagannu to earn the mightiest of legacies. He can legitimately skip the batch of boxing scrubs that make up the usual alphabet soup contenders.
