Note the headline that both the ref and Rickard did not see low blows

Again, I've already stated that there were contradictory quotations. I said that in my first post about what the ref said. In fact, I quoted directly from the paper you are pointing to:

It just so happens that in Alan J. Gould's article where they are reviewing the penultimate blow, he states it was low and traveled up Sharkey's left thigh. It very clearly states "preceding the knockout."

I'm not sure how I can make it any more clear, bro.

Again I put many months studying first hand accounts of this bout.
It's not a misquote. How can I misquote when I gave you the exact quote? lol

He clearly states in the quotation that I gave you that the penultimate blow was low and traveled up. There is no other way to interpret that quotation. You are free to toss it out the window if you like

You guys do my head in. Only here does "preceding the knockout" mean "not preceding the knockout."

It’s a misquote in terms of what he was referencing. The ref specifically described the three right uppercuts prior to the left hook. The blow to the thigh was PRIOR to the ko sequence. Obviously no blow to the thigh occurred with those three ultra short body blow. They were not long punches. Where do you see any of those three body punches being long or anywhere near Sharkeys thigh. Look for yourself. The misquote you are trying to insert into the ko sequence does not fit. Why? Because the ref was referencing a punch previous to the ko sequence.

Ok. Now that is certainly possible that it is a misquote done by Alan J. Gould, but not by me.

But I don't know how Gould messes that up. They were there to discuss the outcome of the fight. Whether you want to jump to the conclusion that Gould got it wrong...that's on you. I very fairly gave both quotations. Gould is a very well respected journalist who was responsible for the AP receiving numerous Pulitzer Prizes, as far as I know. It's also very strange to quote the man saying himself "preceding the knockout" and then have him talking about a blow that wasn't preceding the knockout, especially in the context of having two other quotations specifically about the penultimate blow. There's no other way I can say this.

As for whether it could have landed on the thigh, here is the penultimate blow:

Obviously I can't tell if it landed on the upper thigh or not.

Houdini, also in the quotation, the referee says that he warned Dempsey to keep his punches up.

Did he tell Dempsey to keep his punches up at any other time in the fight? I thought I recall Sharkey complaining that the referee never said anything during the match. Benny Leonard, who also claimed that he was at the fight and the punch was clearly low, also stated that the ref never warned Dempsey to keep his punches up when Dempsey hit low numerous times.

But when you look at the video, and this has been stated in various newspaper articles as well.... when the penultimate blow was landed, the referee comes in quickly and grabs at the fighters. He also mouths something right before Dempsey lands the final blow. It seems that he was coming in to give the warning for keeping the punches up at that point. Doesn't it seem that is what the referee was referring to? More proof that the quotation in the Gould article is about the penultimate blow. I just don't think there is any reason to doubt what was stated outright, as well as what makes sense in the context of other quotations.

Watch the three punch sequence. These were three very quick right uppercuts to the body one after another. First two you can clearly see. All landed within a few seconds. If we can clean up that film I found from the direct opposite side we will actually SEE that final body blow. If We have discovered something unknown to exist by most everyone. This is very exciting. Unfolding history.
