Yes is degradable film during the era he fought in and also he fought so often he didnt have many big build up fights like dempsey for example. Walker and tunney fights were filmed but most of his fights weren't. Greatest fighter of all time imo.

You and Christo raise some great points... Kudos. Pittsburgh has always been a kind of ****** for great fighters... I think maybe at that time, given the world, New York and Pittsburgh were somewhat remote. If Pittsburgh was a kind of backwater, where great fighters flourished it would explain a similar mystery, similar time as well: We have very little footage of Charley Burley as well, the one piece of footage was taken in Oakland California I believe.

Pathe France covered and filmed the Dempsey Firpo bout as well as Dempsey Sharkey. If you look on their website you can find a very clear film of Sharkey being counted out filmed at a different angle than the well known film of this fight. This angle shows that Sharkey was not grabbing at his groin trying to get up...just struggling to get his body, which was not responding, to get up.

Ten or so years ago I contacted Pathe France asking whether they had complete film of both these bouts. The response was disappointing..., all they had was what was on their web site.

The well known film of the Dempsey Firpo bout has been heavily edited. It would be the find of the century to locate the Pathe film of these bouts as the quality appears much better and would illustrate Dempseys skills to a high degree.

If you have these full fights, post them up, because I've only managed to see edited pieces of two rounds against Firpo. In fact, I remember these three fights, along with training footage, all being packaged into 11 minutes.

Hello there. Unfortunately some fights in my collection are not for uploading as those were the rules I agreed to when I obtained them.

Firpo looks awful, and Wills pretty average outside of the knockdown. Will looks pretty poor vs. Madden and that was was before Firpo.

The question is, what do you have of the Firpo and Madden fights that is not on youtube and not for upload, Dr. Z? WAITINGGGGG.
