It does make me laugh when people make Hamed out to be some sort of defensive wizard back in the day (Prime).

Hamed was getting hammered by Sanchez, Barrera, Kelly and tagged by Tom Johnson, Paul Ingle and getting ****** about by Manuel Medina and Daniel Alicea which was in his firs title defence (Alicea) but Naz fans would have you believe he was a wizard defensively and that he fell out of love with training, fighting Yadda Yadda Yadda.

When Hamed was fighting European Champions or domestic fighters he did look difficult to hit but when he stepped up Hamed was getting hammered by World Class fighters.

im not saying norris and saad muhammad werent great fighters, but they are in because of there excitment factor moreso than skills.....so whats the problem with hamed?

He had had great tools to beat Barrera.A great punch and Barrera's weak chin.Barrera didn't beat him because of a ****ty game plan on Hamed part,He beat him because he fought an absolute shadow of the real naseem hamed.His power got him through his last three years against a bunch of fighters who had a death wish implementing the strategy that they did

No.. For once he's talking sense.. Hamed was an arrogant little ****, who had just ditched his lifelong trainer (the excellent Brendan Ingle) & dumped his management team in favour of his no nothing brother, Raith..
Although he didn't realize it, Hamed's career was in total disarray at the time & he was more or less training himself, as he'd decided, he knew it all, already.. Had Barrera met the Hamed that fought Wilfredo Vasquez or Auggie Sanchez, there's no doubt in my mind, Marco would have been KTFO..
Hamed's style was largely reliant on timing, Brendan Ingles specialist subject.. He didn't have that timing for the Barrera fight, & Marco was very quick to pick him off every time he missed.. Hamed lost by a mile, & may have been stopped over 15..

i vote yes...dude brought a whole new light to boxing...he made the sport a lot more enjoyable to a new audience who wasn't too boxing savvy...he deserves to be remembered for that...

The problem with Hmaed is that you can never get a solid argument from his critics.They will claim that the only good opponent he ever faced was Marco Antonio Barrera despite evidence proving otherwise,They will claim that he was at his best by 2001 and hadn't declined one bit in the last three or for years of his career despite evidence proving otherwise
