The judges scoring was a complete joke to anybody who has actually seen that fight,Even with leonards supposed "running" he was still effectively outboxing duran and that was very clear to anybody who saw it.As for Duran turning around the fight,It was becoming less and less competitive towards the end,So I don't see how duran could have sparked such a comeback considering leonard showed no signs of slowing down

Poking your head out, making faces and doing whirley moves with your arm doesn't actually score points in a fight. It does irritate the other fighter which worked as Duran quit but as to scoring on the cards it doesn't.
As to how good Leonard's performance was it is the judges who decide who wins a decision so as the scoring was close on the judges cards then the fight was more than retrievable.

What happened in the ring was that Leonard danced on the outside and Duran slowly tracked him with very little clean punches being thrown by either man. Duran couldn't close the gap and land many and Leonard had most of his punches slipped.
Leonard had a small lead on the judges cards which was about right.
The 1st, 3rd 5th and 6th and 8th very little happened and in the 7th Leonard did a lot of showing off. I would say Leonard won the 2nd and had a good round in the 4th hence the lead on the judges cards. Most of what Leonard did doesn't actually score points.
As for the fight being irretrievable Leonard was the fighter expending most of the energy by dancing around the width of the ring, it is not impossible that he may have suffered for this in the later rounds. That said Duran was in poor shape and so probably wouldn't have been able to take avantage.
Whether you are I agree with the judges scorecards the only people whose opinions matter when deciding who won or lost a fight is the judges isn't it?
In this case I would say they were about right, a small lead for Leonard. Leonard was very good at dazzling the judges with smoke and mirrors it worked against Hagler very well in this fight the referees were not so impressed with showmanship.
