Collins would beat Froch up too, but not necessarily KO him. He wasn't a big knockout artist but more a brawler. Still, he could put you down to sleep if he connected well.

It would not suprise me to see Benn knocked down, Froch has a good punch and Benn never had the best chin......although his heart was terrific. Froch would have to absorb some sickening punches, he could see the canvas a couple of times over 12 rounds but honestly I dont see Benn stopping him. Froch has one of the best chins and ability to absorb punishment I've ever seen, plus hes so damn ****y I couldn't imagine him quitting, but I'd fancy that Benn' superior speed and movement would carry him to an exciting decision win.
Very good analysis.. I'm in agreement here.. Froch seems to enjoy getting hit in the face, & certainly gets a full members badge in the 'bent nose brigade.' He also slips a lot more punches than he's generally given credit for though..
His style is truly odd, where he keeps the left lead extended from a back foot crouch.. He kind of uses it as an antenai to guage punches coming in, with the right low & loaded..
Both fighters are similar in attitude, with a 'fight em on the cobbles' type of persona..
Has all the makings of being a fantastic British scrap, 'tear up', as Benn liked to say.. Thrills & spills for sure, but I very much doubt Carl would get KO'd.. Froch's better than Henry Wharton with a similar chin..
A Benn DC victory sounds about right, but the pre prime Benn who gassed against Watson & Eubank1, would quite possibly get stopped by Froch..

Not a fact that I have ever heard. I assume you must mean the 1st Jackson fight? He had 3 1st round ko's after that.
Benn could hit but I think it was a dehydration problem more than anything, also McClellan had never gone past 8 rounds. Those quick knockouts probably didn't prepare him for a war. Shame to see his current condition although when you read some storys about him maybe what goes around....

Benn was hanging on a bit in Eubank 2 as well.
I'd fancy Benn for this fight but i'd be ready to rip my ticket up after round 8.

exactly, benn was the first man after the first jackson fight to hit him. mcclellan hadnt trained for the fight with benn and got tired just by being in the ring, the first jackson fight was way more exhausting, only that time he was in shape. mclellan went thru war, it wasnt like benn really beat him. geralds brain went out, and like mentioned it was in the jackson fight the real damage was made. after that fight he complained about weird headaches unlike anything he felt in boxing before. in his next fights he never got tagged. he got tagged with a jab by a WW in sparring and started blinking like crazy, obviously the damage was already done. benn was just the first to get past the first (thanks to the ref) and be able to hit mcclellan, at which point the injury that had been caused by jackson set in and ended his career.

Benn wasn't just a better fighter than Froch,He was a better boxer than him too,Benn's boxing skills have been limited to that of his michael watson fight to most who have never folowed his career.Taylor is a good puncher but nowhere near the level of a Nigel Benn.Froch likes to get hit alot it seems which is something you cannot risk against a nigel benn. It's that simple.I also think Nigel benn would have brutally knocked thomas hearns out had they matched up back in 90-92

You're going to give some credit to Benn here surely?

Froch would have lots of trouble punching down at Benn who used that crouch very effectively when he realized he had to actually slip punches before setting up his attacks, its a pitty it took losses to both Watson, Eubank before Benn got the message because he might not have lost those fights.

The best way to find Benn was to double the jab and then follow up with the right hand, McClellan did it in the 8/9 th round, Eubank did it in the first fight, Galvano did the same thing and shook him in their rematch to.

To get the measure of Benn you gotta use the jab effective imo, otherwise you will miss a lot of big punches just like McClellan and Eubank did in their rematch,

Benn's power is overrated imo. Look at some of the guys he was knocking out in his early fights, my granny could of Ko'ed some of the fools

Froch's power is so much more overrated than Benn's.

In fact, Froch's power must be the most overrated thing in boxing right now.
