Do you believe he would be a dominant world champion?
If Jerry Quarry was fighting in his prime today...

He would be the most skillful heavyweight, thats for sure. But I don't think Jerry had the punch to keep the big guys honest and could be lured into a brawl. That would be his downfall. Now, if he was a cruiserweight? He'd be the most dominant, and that includes Haye in my opinion. -
Jerry could punch alright just ask Earnie Shavers about that.. Quarry would be heavyweight champion of the world if fighting today, his counter-punching, speed, ring-savvy and granite chin would be too much for the guys who are title claiments today, i dont go along with this `myth` that fighter A would be too tall for fighter B or fighter A is too heavy for fighter B Jerry Quarry fought his fair share of giant heavyweights and beat them all, its boxing ability that counts in this sport not size and weight.. Manny Pacquiao would not be campaigning 9 weight division above his weight if it was not his ability that got him there, Roy Jones, James Toney, Thomas Hearns, Mike Spinks its boxing ability that counts not height and weight..once a fighter is over the height of 6ft4ins his height becomes a disadvantage, weight has always been a disadvantageComment

Quarry was a very good fighter and a great personality but his legacy tends to get over romanticized.Could he have been champion? Possibly,But just because he fought in the era doesn't automatically mean he's a champion in any other era and the same can be said for many other very good fighters of that era
shame we never got to see bonavena vs quarryComment

The Heavyweight devision of today just does'nt have the same skill level (or fitness level for that matter) of the 60's-80's. Back then Heavyweight boxing was a thing to see, big men that could box 15 hard rounds instead of today's big men that throw 3 punches then have to slow dance for the rest of the fight. In my opinion Quarry would dominate the devision of today, he could box circles around the unfit heavyweights of today and his workrate would prove a problem for the Klitchko's becuase they have never had to fight anyone quite as fit as Quarry.
Jerry Quarry WBO, WBA, WBC world champion of todayComment

Quarry NEVER fought a giant heavyweight and Shavers jaw was never anything to write home about. Jerry was an excellent fighter. But if Chuvalo could stop him, a Wlad or Vitaly is going to punish him and take his head off.
Since when did being over 6'4" become a disadvantage?Comment

Quarry would probably be a cruiserweight and I can't see anyone coming close to beating him at that weight.
As a heavyweight he would likely come up short against the Klitschko brothers but beat just about everyone else.Comment

Jerry was very unlucky with cuts. He had the tools to be a great champion, but it just never worked the way it should for him.Comment
