I wouldn't favor Jeff either, but you've made it sound like he has no chance whatsoever, when in fact this is a very compelling match-up.
If Jeffries makes it past 5, he wins this fight. and from what we know of him, this isn't an outlandish thought.Comment

With all due respect, this is guess work at best without a knowledgable foundation. Jeff could **** too, was much more athletic and had an incredible chin and stamina. You still haven't answered my question.....what happens if Foreman doesn't get him out of there early?

I'd still favor Big George though. Prime Foreman was a freakish beast.Comment

Although Foreman was no dancer, he has been in the ring with men that did move faster then Jeffries. That being said, Jeffries showed a better chin, especially in regard to the punishment he was recieving in the second Fitszimmons fight, whereas Foreman was dropped by Lyle twice in their bruising encounter.
Stylistically, Foreman gets the edge. Jeffries at around 6'1'' was considered a big Heavyweight of his day, his suited style was from a crouch to where he would lead a jab from his left, setting up thunderous shots from his right. This would be a negative approach for a 6'4'' Foreman who's jab and cross' would be something Jeffries has not experienced. Foreman would knock Jeffries out purely on fighting manner/style. That is not to say Foreman was a better fighter, just the fact boxing had evolved enormously.
That being said, i would like to muster up a dream-fight between Jeffries and Liston. Although that would contradict everything i had previously stated.Comment

They thought so much of Jeffries that even after a SIX YEAR LAYOFF they figured he ought to be able to beat Johnson. Who did Jeffries beat? Well he was 7-1-1 against Hall Of Famers, for starters.
Johnson made his name off of guys who wouldn't even be middleweights today and one old, fat, retired 6 year layoff ATG HW. If he wasn't the first black HW champ (huge accomplishment beating a 5'7", 168 lb midget,) and if people didn't overrate his win over Jeffries, no one would have a clue who he was.
And sorry chump, Jeffries beats Johnson, but Foreman annihilates him.Comment

they didnt think much of that fat farmer they only brought him out because no one recognized johnson as the true champ....in fact that was one of his easiest fights....talk about johnson beating smaller guys but jeffries was even bigger....and you cant say he would win in his prime when in 15 rounds he didnt even show a flash of anything significant....he was beat physically and tactically.....hes only a hall of famer because he beat little buggy drivers....

Jeffries was a freak, and with the existing training in the 70’s he hangs with the best. Easy top 10 heavyweight of all time.Comment
