Holyfield got a cruiserweight title fight after 11 fights against Qawi, mainly due to the recognition he recieved after getting robbed in the olympics. And yeah, I'm sure his dad's influence hellped.

I always thought it was Joe Frazier bargaining with his "prodigy" (I use the word prodigy loosely") son to get big fights and shock the world.

we all know how well that worked.

He also split two fights with Tony Tubbs at the simon pure level, but basically got that shot because of his dad and the fact that Larry was on the run.

that was supposed to be for holmes newly acquired IBF belt but in some listings, the IBF doesnt recognized this as a title fight. Marvis only had 10 fights, holmes just wants no part of greg page and was trying to get out of don king thats why given up the WBC belt.

              - -Lar had ditched the WBC and their mandatory.

IBF came a'callin' and the rest sordid boxing history though nobody would sanction Marvis as a title shot, not even the IBF though Lar tried.

So what is it? Do you blame holmes for defending that title? Are you mad and think he should have taken another route? Do you think he would have lost had he gone a different direction? What are you sayin
