    R.I.P Norman Mailer 1923 - 2007

I would just like to say Norman Mailer is one of my all-time favorite writers especially the books and articles he authored regarding boxing. He was one of a kind.

I always respected Mailer. A truly sad loss indeed.

        - -I'll always remember a pic nic with his girl where they guested a noted actor , Rip Torn comes to mind, and he gets carried away with method acting as he and Norm end up rolling around the hillside as Rip is trying his best to stab Norm with his knife.

Epic report on The Rumble in the Jungle.

The film of that incident is up on YouTube. Rip Torn attacked Mailer with a hammer, and Norm retaliated by choking Rip and biting his face. They both ended up bleeding. Rip Torn looked high as a kite. He was definitely out of his skull on something.

              - -Who carries a hammer to a blanket picnic under a tree?

Who rolls around with a dwarf?

Something way off with both them boys, just pitiable , but they dead now!

Mailer was one of the most gifted who ever attempted boxing writing. Images, he had 'em. A first class wordsmith.
