No such thing as single greatest coach. Same with fighters.

Names that are in the mix for top honors:

    Whitey Bimstein
    Freddie Brown
    Eddie Futch
    Gil Clancy
    Emmanuel Stewart
    Jack Blackburn
    Ray Arcel
    Al Silvani
    Nacho Beristain

Another honorable mention is Mannie Seamon, a protege of Blackburn who went on to handle Louis from 1942 to 1951. He also trained Benny Leonard and several other big names.

Other greats in the conversation are George Benton, Freddie Roach, Dundee, D'Amato.

How about two pioneers of the modern game . . . Walter Watson (Corbett; San Francisco Olympic Club) and William Muldoon (Sullivan for the Kilrain fight).

          - -Muldoon only one fight and it was a corker.

He was the only man in America, indeed the world that could stand up to Sully to whip him into shape. He was more advanced than 95% of boxing trainers today and this his boxing debut.
