He just feasted on guys a lot smaller than him. He was slow, didn't have a real devastating punch, his boxing fundamentals were minimal at best, and he had poor stamina. He was not IMO a great middleweight. He was good, but not great. Very overrated.

He fought the top contenders of the era, ones the champ avoided.contenders like Holman Williams, Jose Basora, Lloyd Marshall, George Kochan, Fritzie Zivic, Satterfield, Jimmy Edgar, and Tony Janiro. imo LaMotta gives any middleweight trouble

Why hate on LaMotta? No one rates him top p4p. But he does have one of the best wins in the history of boxing. He beat the best fighter of his era, of all time at a relatively peak moment (of course in retrospect no one is going to pick a losing fight as 'prime'). And he has a very good track record besides.

Originally posted by butterfly1964 View PostAgain, Robinson was a welterweight and only 22 years old. He was not at his peak yet. And LaMotta had bad stamina period. Look at the sixth Robinson fight. He had no lags from like the sixth round on. LaMotta is not great period. He just threw wild shots until his opponent went down. That's a poor fight plan.i loved it

Ali would've still been young and vibrant.
