He outweighed robinson by 17 pounds when he beat him. Either way, i'm not denying he was good. However, where people rate him among the history of this sport, he doesn't deserve.

A green Robinson (who he had a 16lb weight advantage over), and other no-names, has beens, and never was's. LaMotta never beat a true middleweight great in their prime ever. He just feasted on guys a lot smaller than him. He was slow, didn't have a real devastating punch, his boxing fundamentals were minimal at best, and he had poor stamina. He was not IMO a great middleweight. He was good, but not great. Very overrated.
wtf u talkin about? when Robinson and LaMotta fought Ray had like 100 amatuer fights and 40 pro fights, how is that green? Jake had poor stamina? stamina and a great chin are his best qualities. everytime he fought he would bully, and throw nonstop leather. He fought the top contenders of the era, ones the champ avoided.contenders like Holman Williams, Jose Basora, Lloyd Marshall, George Kochan, Fritzie Zivic, Satterfield, Jimmy Edgar, and Tony Janiro. imo LaMotta gives any middleweight trouble

Why hate on LaMotta? No one rates him top p4p. But he does have one of the best wins in the history of boxing. He beat the best fighter of his era, of all time at a relatively peak moment (of course in retrospect no one is going to pick a losing fight as 'prime'). And he has a very good track record besides.

Again, Robinson was a welterweight and only 22 years old. He was not at his peak yet. And LaMotta had bad stamina period. Look at the sixth Robinson fight. He had no lags from like the sixth round on. LaMotta is not great period. He just threw wild shots until his opponent went down. That's a poor fight plan.

you got a point tho. in the fight where they called it the st valentine's day massacre. lamotta got tired in 7 rounds. robinson was letting lamotta hit so he could get tire and for robinson to attack. at the 7th round lamotta was wasted already, and theres when robinson delivered the 8 punch combination massacre i loved it

                    - -Always fun to see a bunch of old fighters collected together, but that pic ain't translatable to my ancient iPhone.

Ali would've still been young and vibrant.
