I would consider suburban Gloucester-Camden Counties as idyllic a place to grow up as any place I have been. When I moved to a rather wealthy exburb of Pittsburgh people also go a less than desirable idea of a smokey city. It wasn't that, and the city itself have improved quite a bit. Michigan, rural Ohio, Hawai'i ... these are all nice places they have great reputations, but I can more easily criticize them than Jersey or the Pittsburgh region.

And that's why I have told you you need to leave NYC. You are trapped there. It's stunted your thinking. It's not just you and New Yorkers, it's not most Americans, who never leave the town they were raised in.
