Promoter Lou DiBella has advised BoxingScene.com that middleweight contender Andy Lee (27-1, 19KOs) is "ready and willing" to fight WBA champion Felix Sturm (36-2-2, 15KOs) - and the Irish boxer has no issue with traveling to Germany to make the fight happen. Sturm has barely fought outside of Germany since losing a controversial decision in 2004 to Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Felix Sturm's promotional company, Sturm Box Promotions, won the mandatory purse bid for the EBU middleweight bout between champion Grzegorz Proksa (26-0, 19 KOs) and challenger Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10 KOs). Sturm is pushing to stage the bout in March or April in Germany, but the fight has stalled because Zbik refuses to fight for Sturm. Instead, Zbik wants to fight Sturm for the WBA middleweight crown.
Martin Murray has plenty of options at 160lbs after raising his game, not to mention his profile, when taking WBA titlist Felix Sturm to a twelve round draw in Germany on December 2nd. Murray entered Mannheim’s SAP Arena as the underdog, however his muscular and intelligent performance underlined the 29-year-old’s place on the world stage.
According to middleweight contender Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19KOs), WBA champion Felix Sturm tried to force him into a rematch agreement that would guarantee Sturm a 40% take of Macklin's future earnings. Macklin lost a controversial split decision victory to Sturm in June 2011. Macklin is scheduled to face middleweight king Sergio Martinez on March 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Undefeated WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15KOs) is ready to face WBA king Felix Sturm (36-2-2, 15KOs) in any location - even in Sturm's home of Germany. Pirog has been mentioned as possible opponent for Sturm on April 13th. Pirog is holding out hope that Sturm follows through with a possible fight, but he's not sure if anything is going to actually happen with the ongoing rumors.
Promoter Ahmet Oner of Arena Box Promotions had a short-lived business relationship with Felix Sturm, the WBA's "super champion" at 160-pounds. Sturm (36-2-2, 15KOs) will return on April 13th in Germany and the two rumored opponents are IBF champion Daniel Geale or WBO king Dmitry Pirog. Oner has his doubts about Sturm facing one of the champions at his weight. He thinks Sturm, through his television deal with Sat1, is going to continue making money with second-tier opponent.

Rather than accept that fate and simply complain about the result, the next best step was taken – revoking their licenses pending satisfactory remedial training.
According to a few sources, German television network Sat.1, has reserved a date of April 13th for the next title defense for WBA middleweight king Felix Sturm (36-2-2, 15KOs). There have been reports that Sturm is considering a unification for that date, with undefeated WBO champion Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15KOs) and IBF beltholder Daniel Geale (26-1, 15KOs) as the leading candidates. Both Pirog and Geale are very interested in facing Sturm, although Pirog would probably be a more likely candidate with Geale already scheduled for a hometown bout in Tasmania on February 29th.
