Felix Sturm's promotional company, Sturm Box Promotions, won the mandatory purse bid for the EBU middleweight bout between champion Grzegorz Proksa (26-0, 19 KOs) and challenger Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10 KOs). Sturm is pushing to stage the bout in March or April in Germany, but the fight has stalled because Zbik refuses to fight for Sturm. Instead, Zbik wants to fight Sturm for the WBA middleweight crown.
"I don't want fight for Sturm, I want to fight him," Zbik said earlier.
Proksa on the other hand is ready to fight, against any challenger presented.
"I'm certain that I'm going to fight in March. I'm not sure who I'm going to defend the title against. Right now it's only the question of who. If Zbik withdraws, let him go his own way! I'll face an opponent selected by the EBU, or I'll get the green light and select another opponent attractive option," Proksa told Ring Polska.
