On Friday night, Hiroto Kyoguchi retained his WBA junior flyweight title by stoppage over Esteban Bermudez in a bloody battle at the Domo Alcade in Guadalajara, Mexico.

By Jake Donovan - Hiroto Kyoguchi couldn’t wait to follow the lead of Naoya Inoue. Just three days after watching his close friend and pound-for-pound king score an empathic second-round knockout of Nonito Donaire in Saitama, Japan, Kyoguchi hit the road for a statement-making performance of his own. It came in the form of an eighth-round knockout of Mexico’s Esteban Bermudez in a WBA junior flyweight title unification bout. Kyoguchi

Jr. flyweight has been a quiet gem for a few years with some talented titlists, good fights, and a few surprising upsets. It hasn’t been what it could be. The talent pool has been there for the sort of action that broke out about a dozen years ago when fighters like Ivan Calderon, Hugo Cazares, and Giovanni Segura made some classic encounters. It could be there again if the unification fever hitting the sport permeates to 108 lbs.

Hiroto Kyoguchi was eager to conquer America for his first fight under manager Eddy Reynoso last year in Dallas. Now, he can’t wait to impress his manager a little closer to home. The two-division and reigning WBA ‘Super’ junior flyweight champion is set for his title consolidation bout with WBA ‘World’ titlist Esteban Bermudez. The bout takes place Friday on DAZN from Domo Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Hiroto Kyoguchi is excited by the new wave of boxing fans in Japan and is ready to wow them as he defends his WBA Super and Ring Magazine World Light-Flyweight titles against Esteban Bermudez tomorrow night (Friday June 10) at Dome Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico, live worldwide on DAZN.

Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez both stepped on an official commission scale for the first time in more than a year. Neither fighter had any difficulty in making weight despite a long layoff for each, ahead of their WBA junior flyweight title consolidation bout. Both boxers weighed 107.8 pounds, under the 108-pound divisional limit for their scheduled twelve-round contest which airs live on DAZN from Domo Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico (Friday, 8:00 p.m, ET).
