Esteban Bermudez: record, next fight and profile →
A title consolidation fight nearly a year in the making finally has a date. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that terms have been reached for the long-ago ordered clash between two-division and reigning WBA “Super” junior flyweight titlist Hiroto Kyoguchi and ‘World’ titlist Esteban Bermudez of Nezahualcoyotl.
Another delay has come in the proposed title consolidation clash between Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez. This one has not only pushed back the purse bid hearing but the fight itself. A yet-to-heal injury endured by Japan’s Kyoguchi (15-0, 10KOs) has forced the reigning WBA “Super” junior flyweight titlist to bow out of his ordered fight with Mexico’s Bermudez (14-3-2, 10KOs), who holds the secondary WBA “World” junior flyweight titlist. The development has prompted the sanctioning body to call another title fight in the interim—a rematch between Bermudez and former title claimant Carlos Canizales.
Yet another deadline has passed without a deal in place for an ordered title consolidation clash between Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez.
Matchroom Boxing now has less than a week to deliver contracts for a fight that has been the works for months. A final deadline of January 7 has been set for proof of firm plans in place for the WBA junior flyweight title consolidation bout between WBA “Super” champion Hiroto Kyoguchi and “World” titlieholder Esteban Bermudez. Both parties and event promoter Eddie Hearn were notified by the sanctioning body on December 29 of a ten-day period assigned to provide signed contracts and with the fight to take place no later than February 9.
Unbeaten Japanese WBA 108-pound (super) world champion Hiroto Kyoguchi will travel all the way to Mexico to battle tough Mexican Esteban Bermudez, who is the WBA's regular champion at 108, in an interesting clash of civilizations on January 15.
Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez have finally come to an agreement. A negotiation period that has extended more than five months has produced a deal in place for the World Boxing Association (WBA)-ordered junior flyweight title consolidation clash. The Panama City-headquartered sanctioning body confirmed the news Friday, hours ahead of a previously scheduled purse bid hearing.
The time has come for Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez to face the music. A purse bid hearing has been scheduled to determine promotional rights for the World Boxing Association (WBA) junior flyweight title fight that was first ordered nearly five months ago. The sanctioning body announced a November 12 date set aside for the bout following the latest deadline expiring without a deal in place.
Hiroto Kyoguchi and Esteban Bermudez still have work to do and now with a firm deadline to help speed up the process. A title consolidation bout between the pair of junior flyweights was re-ordered by the World Boxing Association (WBA) on Thursday. The instance marks the third time that the two sides have been called to make a deal, this time with a final ten-day deadline in place before heading to a purse bid hearing.
There is still a junior flyweight title at stake this weekend, though no longer for Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez. A new opponent is in place for San Antonio’s Rodriguez, who will now face Jose Alejandro Burgos this Saturday on DAZN from Chukchansi Park in Fresno, California. The bout serves in supporting capacity to the return of Rodriguez’s training stablemate, former four-division titlist Mikey Garcia who faces Spain’s Sandor Martin atop the telecast.
The announcement of a forthcoming WBA junior flyweight title fight caught many in the industry by surprise. Including the WBA. Matchroom Boxing revealed elements of its upcoming fall schedule on DAZN. Included among the lot was an October 16 show topped by former four-division titlist Mikey Garcia in a showdown with Spain’s Sandor Martin. The press release also specified two junior flyweight title fights, including a clash between WBA “World” titlist Esteban Bermudez (14-3-2, 10KOs) and unbeaten contender Jesse ’Bam' Rodriguez (13-0, 9KOs).
