Newly crowned WBC Junior Welterweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia stopped by BoxingScene.com’s official audio show The Boxing Lab to talk about his tough win over Mexican legend Erik Morales.

Trainer and manager Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain said it was sad to see what happened to Tijuana's Erik "Terrible" Morales (52-8, 36KOs) last weekend when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision against American Danny Garcia in Houston, Texas. Like his own fighter, Juan Manuel Marquez, Nacho believes Morales, 35-years-old, can still remain a force in the sport.

Juan Manuel Márquez believes his countryman, Erik Morales, may have stuggled in his recent training camp because of a gallbladder operation in December. Morales had to break his camp in December to get emergency gallblader surgery. The boxer's scheduled clash with Danny Garcia was pushed from a date in January to last Saturday night. For the fight with Garcia, Morales failed to make weight, coming in two pounds over the junior welterweight limit and his body was flabby. He lost a twelve round unanimous decision.

Jose Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council, is pleading with Erik "El Terrible" Morales (52-8, 36KOs) to seriously consider a full retirement from boxing. Morales, who took punishment during last Saturday's decision loss to Danny Garcia and failed to make weight for the fight, is considering one more fight in the fall, in Tijuana, before retiring for good.

In a fight that flew under the radar, WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco successfully made the first defense of his title on March 17th in Los Mochis, Mexico when he stopped fringe contender Miguel Roman in the fifth round.

Erik Morales (52-8, 36KOs) won four titles in four divisions in his long career. The 35-year-old boxer returned to Mexico with his head held high, discussed his future and the next generation of Mexican fighters.

Junior welterweight Danny Garcia landed 100 more power punches in the fight and outlanded Erik Morales 40-10 over the last two rounds and scored a knockdown to win a twelve round decision.

Reliant Arena, Houston, Texas - Danny Gracia (23-0, 14KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over four division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36KOs) to capture the vacant WBC junior welterweight title. Morales lost his WBC title at Friday's weigh-in when he failed to make weight.

Former four division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36KOs) conceded defeat on Saturday night, and gave credit to Danny Garcia (23-0, 14KOs), who won a twelve round unanimous decision over the Mexican veteran at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.
