Trainer and manager Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain said it was sad to see what happened to Tijuana's Erik "Terrible" Morales (52-8, 36KOs) last weekend when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision against American Danny Garcia in Houston, Texas. Like his own fighter, Juan Manuel Marquez, Nacho believes Morales, 35-years-old, can still remain a force in the sport. The Hall of Fame trainer says the people around Morales did not properly manage the boxer's weight, which led his failure to make the junior welterweight limit.
"[Between him not making the weight and the fight], it was sad to see him [like that] because 'El Terrible' is a great fighter, a Mexican boxing legend who helped shape the history of the sport and I find it odd that he looked well [prior to the] fight with Garcia. [Morales] can still be raised from the ashes as they did [with him] in previous fights and he deserves a revival. The previous fights were great, but the people around him did not manage the situation [with his] weight and [look what] happened," Nacho said.
