Erickson Lubin: record, next fight and profile →
BIGGEST WINNER I - Jermell Charlo: Jermall Charlo is the Charlo brother with the particularly bright future, the one who could crack the pound-for-pound Top 10 and continue to climb. At least that’s the prevailing wisdom. More and more, though, Jermell Charlo is becoming impossible to overlook. Jermell made the biggest statement of his career on the junior middleweight triple-header Saturday in Brooklyn
There was a fierce battle. A sudden end. A Brooklyn crowd who found a way to entertain when the inaction in the ring left them with too much time on their hand. Going into Saturday night, it looked like the second best card on paper in the US this year. The first two bouts televised on Showtime gave more than enough to live up to most
Charlo vs. Lubin Fight Photos Gallery - At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, one of the most anticipated fights of the year lasted only 2:41 seconds as WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Jermell Charlo knocked out Erickson Lubin with a brutal right uppercut to the chin in the opening round in the second of three 154-pound world title fights. Wasn’t the punch Jermell Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs) deployed to knock out Erickson Lubin (18-1, 13 KOs) in the first round eerily reminiscent of Mike Tyson’s fight-ending blow, also in the opening round, against Michael Spinks in 1988? Both Spinks and Lubin ran their jaws smack into the punch - a hybrid right uppercut/hook – when they made evasive moves by ducking to their left like they were anticipating an incoming right cross.
All three champions defended their titles Saturday night in different fashions. The highlight was Jermell Charlo's first-round knockout of Erickson Lubin. Or maybe it was Jarrett Hurd's action-packed win over Austin Trout. It certainly wasn't Erislandy Lara's unanimous decision over Terrell Gausha. Lara schooled Gausha for most of their 12-round WBA welterweight title fight, outpointing the 2012 U.S. Olympian to close out the triple-championship card.
By Thomas Gerbasi - Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - What began as a war of nerves between junior middleweights Jermell Charlo and Erickson Lubin ended suddenly in Barclays Center Saturday night, as Charlo retained his WBC title for the second time via devastating first round knockout. "He caught me with a...

In one of the best top to bottom cards of the year (Showtime, 10 PM EST/7 PM PST), the Jr. middleweight division takes center stage with two highly compelling fights on paper and another with at least some potential to surprise. How strong is this cast of characters? They represent three of the TBRB, and five of the Ring Magazine, top ten in the division. It promises to shake up 154 lbs. in a big way by the end of the night. Will we see a dramatic shift to younger, fresher faces? Will a pair of veterans hold their spots and use their elder status to take their foes to the learning tree?
New York - Jermell Charlo looks to continue his run of victories at the 154 pound division this weekend when he takes on highly regarded prospect Erickson Lubin (29-0, 14 KO’s). Although Lubin is a slight underdog, he is untested. Charlo feels tested or not, he will do his business come Saturday night inside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. “You just train and you fight,” Charlo told BoxingScene.com. “The bullsh*t that comes with it I don’t care about. I have nothing to do with him not having enough fights. I have 29 fights and fought some great fighters that could have been world champions.”
