Charlo Calls Lubin 'F***ing Bum' After Implication of Cocaine Use

Jermell Charlo reacted as you might expect Tuesday to Erickson Lubin’s suggestion on Twitter that Charlo uses cocaine. Charlo called Lubin “a f***ing bum” after Lubin sent out a Tweet on Tuesday night of Charlo’s head, photoshopped on the body of an unidentified man who’s leaning over a pile of cocaine. Lubin attached the hashtag, “#LinesOnly” to the photo, a reference to the motto, “Lions Only,” often uttered by Jermell Charlo and his twin brother, Jermall Charlo.

A big left hand stunned previously undefeated 27-year old Jorge Lara (29-1-2, 21 KO), 127 ½, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and that was all she wrote. Lara was done at just 33 seconds of the very first round.

Last Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Lara retained his title with a lopsided decision against previously undefeated 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (20-1, 9 KOs). As part of the undercard, two of the other beltholders retained their belts with impressive wins. Jermell Charlo retained his WBC title with a first round demolition of undefeated Erickson Lubin, while IBF champion Jarrett Hurd broke down and stopped former beltholder Austin Trout.

Television viewers reacted the same way to the Erislandy Lara-Terrell Gausha fight Saturday night as fans in attendance. Showtime’s viewership went down during Lara’s mundane, 12-round win against Gausha, a rarity for a main event of a premium-cable broadcast. According to ratings released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research, Lara’s unanimous-decision victory over Gausha peaked at 476,000 viewers and averaged 399,000.
