BoxingScene.com caught up with Todd DuBoef, President of Top Rank, at Saturday's open workout for Nonito Donaire. The "Filipino Flash" faces Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. next Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title.

DuBoef discussed a variety of topics, including top Rank's plans for Brandon Rios (29-0, 22KOs) and Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs). The two fighters were supposed to appear in separate bouts on a March 3rd HBO televised card in Carson, California. Rios was supposed to face John Molina Jr., while Gamboa was going to face Rocky Martinez.

The idea behind the doubleheader was to build a Rios vs. Gamboa summer showdown, provided both boxers were victorious in those fights.  Both of the March fights fell apart when monetary agreements couldn't be reached to satisfy neither Molina's or Martinez's team.

With March 3rd rapidly approaching, the fight card has been moved to April 14th and will now take place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV. DuBoef said that he is now looking to go straight to making the Rios-Gamboa fight on that date.

"The plan was for them both to appear in separate fights on the same card. Now I am talking to both HBO about having them fight each other next," DuBoef told BoxingScene.com.
