Oscar De La Hoya promoted a good number of fights of Daniel Jacobs and this allowed him to realize what the 'Miracle Man' is capable of, he knew his virtues and also his defects
So De La Hoya believes that if the New Yorker goes out to knock out Canelo Alvarez on May 4, then he could be the one who could end up getting knocked out.
De la Hoya feels that Jacobs' versatility may be a problem for Canelo, but Jacobs also has a tendency to get ahead of himself and that flaw could be put to use.
Canelo Álvarez and Daniel Jacobs will unify the middleweight titles of the World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council and the International Boxing Federation at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
"We just saw him (Canelo) and he's happy, happy, there are only a few days left and it's time to cut the weight, it's time to make the adjustments, but he has done everything very well, he looks strong, he's fast, he's pulling many combinations, he looks excellent," said De La Hoya to ESPN Deportes.
"I know Jacobs well, he is a champion who knows how to box, he has a big heart, when he wants to fight, he knows how to fight, tie up and fight, push you back, he has everything, but one thing he does not like is to be pressured, and Canelo has to press him, he has to go to the front but throwing combinations, working to the body. Jacobs got knocked out once with a right, going backwards, so Canelo has to push him back and throw a lot of punches.
"There's going to be fireworks, the only fault I see for Jacobs is that his heart is too big, he often starts to get brave with a puncher like Canelo and that's going to get him knock him out, but it's the risk he likes and if he thinks he can knock out Canelo, let him try, because that way it guarantees an excellent fight."
