BoxingScene.com has been advised that a light heavyweight clash between former champions, Chad Dawson (29-1, 17KOs) and Adrian Diaconu (27-2, 15KOs), is moving forward as scheduled on May 21 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The fight was initially in jeopardy when Diaconu had an internal issue with his promoter, InterBox. After a scheduled meeting, Diaconu was able to reach an understanding with his promoter and agreed to the fight.

In the last few days, members of Dawson's team were discussing whether or not to accept the fight. After going over a few things, Dawson's trainer, Emanuel Steward, advised the boxer's promoter, Gary Shaw, that they were ready to go.

"The fight is on," Shaw told BoxingScene.com.

Dawson-Diaconu is the HBO televised co-feature to the Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins rematch.
